WASHINGTON, D.C. –
Congressmen Dr. Phil Roe (R-TN) responded this week to the tragic
shootings in Las Vegas.
"I am heartbroken by the
senseless and horrific shooting in Las Vegas. I am praying for the
innocent victims, their families and the city of Las Vegas. I’m grateful
to the Las Vegas Police Department, first responders and local
authorities who responded quickly – they are true heroes. Clarinda and I
echo the sentiments expressed by President Trump this morning and join
the nation in praying for the quick recovery of the injured, for unity
and for peace.”
Roe also announced
he is part of two committees considering H.R. 849, the Protecting
Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act, Roe’s legislation to repeal the
Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB):
“I am thrilled my legislation to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory
Board is being marked up by the two authorizing committees this week.
These markups are an opportunity to show there is bipartisan support for
this legislation and bipartisan concern about an unelected,
unaccountable bureaucracy denying our seniors access to care. Repealing
IPAB is an essential step in undoing the damage caused by the Affordable
Care Act, and I commend Committee Chairmen Kevin Brady and Greg Walden
for their continued leadership and efforts to protect seniors’ access to
care.”
NOTE: The House Committees on Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means
announced they would markup H.R. 849 on October 4, 2017. |
