A complaint posted on
Hobby Lobby's Facebook page has gone viral – having been shared more
than 15,000 times and commented on over 160,000 times since it was
posted on Sept. 14.
The complaint is over a cotton decoration available at the store, which
the poster said is a reminder of slavery and those who were forced to
pick cotton.
The poster says Hobby Lobby should stop selling the item in their
stores, but several of those who commented said it was a step too far,
because people of many races have picked cotton.
Hobby Lobby's description of the item refers to it as a piece of natural
decor reminiscent of the great outdoors, but has yet to comment
officially on the controversy. |
