Hundreds of negative reviews of Hillary
Clinton’s newly-released book have reportedly been deleted by Amazon.
In the book, titled What Happened, the 2016 presidential candidate
shares about being on the campaign trail and running for America’s
highest office.
The book currently has 4.8 out of five stars on Amazon, but, according
to The Washington Times, that wasn’t always the case.
As of late Wednesday night, the number of one star and five star reviews
of the book were reportedly about equivalent, which gave the book an
average rating of about three out of five stars.
Somehow, however, between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, the
one star reviews disappeared, causing many to allege that Amazon deleted
the one star reviews. Ninety-five percent of reviewers now gave the book
five out of five stars--a suspiciously high number for any book, not to
mention a controversial political one.
An Amazon spokesperson denied this allegation:
“In the case of a memoir, the subject of the book is the author and
their views. It’s not our role to decide what a customer would view as
helpful or unhelpful in making their decision. We do however have
mechanisms in place to ensure that the voices of many do not drown out
the voices of a few and we remove customer reviews that violate our
community guidelines.” |
