| On September 14, Rashan Lateef Jordan, 36,
was convicted of sale and delivery of cocaine over .5 grams in a drug
		free childcare zone.
During the trial, it was stated that Jordan sold an undercover officer
22 grams of cocaine. The assistant district attorney argued that Jordan
should receive a heavier sentence because he belonged to the East Side
		Bloods criminal street gang.

Prosecutors also used Jordan's prior history, convictions including
possession with intent to sell cocaine, attempted aggravated sexual
battery, evading arrest and two counts of theft, for evidence of need
		for a heavier sentence.

“Clearly, Jordan’s five prior felony convictions were not enough to
deter his criminal activity,” said DA Allen. “With this conviction, my
Office has ensured that he will not be able to commit any more crimes in
Knoxville for a very long time.”
