Police Searching For Van Involved In Deadly Hit/Run Accident From Early
August
The Knoxville Police Department is
searching for a van involved in a deadly hit-and-run that happened in
early August.
At 12:55 p.m. on August 8, officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run
crash involving a bicyclist on Central Avenue Pike near Bruhin Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, the bicyclist was traveling
east on Central Avenue Pike when he was hit by a van traveling
eastbound. Investigators said the driver of the van fled the scene on
Bruhin Road.
The bicyclist identified as Scott Armes of Knoxville was transported to
UT Medical Center and later died on August 29.
Detectives believe the van that fled the scene is a gray 1999 - 2005
Chevrolet Astro van. The van lost a passenger-side mirror as a result of
the crash.
