LINCOLN PARISH, La. (KNOE/WVLT) -- The
identity of the suspect in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday was
released Wednesday.
The scene of an officer involved shooting in Lincoln Parish.
Louisiana State Police identify him as 22-year-old Joshua Mark Cloud of
Knoxville, Tennessee.
State police say Cloud was killed Tuesday after firing at a deputy
during a traffic stop near Simsboro High School. Authorities say the
deputy was hit by gunfire, but a bulletproof vest prevented any serious
injuries.
The school was briefly placed on lockdown during the incident as a
precaution.
Authorities say the deputy involved in the shooting has been treated and
released and is at home resting.
Louisiana State Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing
as of Wednesday evening.
Cloud's friends told Local 8 News he graduated from Farragut High
School.
Brad Brinson is pastor of Two Rivers Church, where the Cloud family are
active members. Pastor Brinson said the family is in complete shock, and
the church will continue to pray for them during their time of grief.
Cloud's friends told local news outlets they want to hear more about exactly
what happened in the shooting.
