A woman said she called police after
she spotted a dog sitting in a hot car in North Knoxville.
Cindy Fowler said the dog was in the car for 20 minutes while she stood
outside and waited for animal control to show up. When they did, Fowler
said even with the window rolled down, officers said the car's inside
temperature was 101 degrees.
The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley shared the story on its
Facebook page, asking visitors what they would do in a similar
situation.
"It's very dangerous," said Amy Buttry, Executive Director of the Humane
Society of the Tennessee Valley. "In a matter of minutes, it can be hot
enough to cause brain damage, even death of your pet."
The dog was removed from the car, and Fowler said the owner was cited.
