Keep Sevier Beautiful and Smoky Mountain
Outdoors are teaming up for a back-to-school cleanup of the Little
Pigeon River and its bank along Old Knoxville Highway in Sevierville.
It will take place on Friday August 11th at 9 a.m. at the Sevierville
City Park and will end at noon at the Gists Creed Road Bridge with a
celebration luncheon at Wilderness of the Smokies and a cool-off for
volunteers in the Wilderness at the Smokies Waterpark.
Keep Sevier Beautiful volunteers will join river guides from Smoky
Mountain Outdoors in kayaks, boats and rafts to clean up litter in the
river and on the often hard-to-reach riverbanks. Smoky Mountain Outdoors
rafts will be used to transport the collected trash to a point on the
riverbank where it can be unloaded.
"We are excited to be partnering again with Smoky Mountain Outdoors,"
said Lisa Bryant, Executive Director with Keep Sevier Beautiful. "With
all of the expertise and knowledge of our Sevier County waterways, they
are a great asset to both Keep Sevier Beautiful and our community for
this event."Olwen Claiborne,
Marketing Director at Smoky Mountain Outdoors added, "Smoky Mountain
Outdoors truly appreciates the work of Keep Sevier Beautiful.
Stewardship of our environment is everyone's responsibility, and we are
pleased to support this annual river clean-up."
