Sevier County Commissioner Mary Davis has
announced that all emergency call tapes from last year's November
wildfires will be released next week.
Davis told local news outlets and newspapers that the 911 tapes would be
released from Gatlinburg as well, though he could not say that the tapes
would be released at the same time as those from Sevier County.
The announcement comes after the recordings of calls made to and from
the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency were reportedly lost.
In June, charges were dropped against two juveniles accused of starting
the wildfires, which were labeled as the state's largest and deadliest
in the last century.
The firestorms started in an area of
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park called the Chimney Tops on
November 23. TEMA reports that 14,000 people evacuated Sevier County on
November 28.
