Tragedy struck late Saturday for an
Alabama family visiting Douglas Dam in Sevier County.
A three-year-old girl did not survive
after she was pulled from the Douglas Dam beach area unresponsive
Saturday evening, according to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals.
Investigators reported to local news media late Saturday the child was
from Alabama and first reported missing near the dam around 6:15.
About twenty minutes later, authorities said the girl was found
submerged in the water.
The girl was rushed to LeConte Medial Center where she was pronounced
dead.
According to reports, the child was with a large group of people,
including her parents, when she was discovered missing. The Sevier
County Sheriff's Office has not yet released the child's name as of
early Sunday
