Vice President Mike Pence Addresses Convention Of Religious Broadcasters
In Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Vice President
Mike Pence is telling anti-abortion advocates that President Donald
Trump is keeping his word on opposing abortion, calling him the "most
pro-life president in American history."
Pence relayed the message to an anti-abortion group during a convention
of religious broadcasters.
Pence cited several gains for the anti-abortion movement. He said he was
proud to cast the tie-breaking vote last March on a law letting states
deny federal family planning money to Planned Parenthood and other
abortion providers.
He said opposition continues from abortion rights advocates. He cited a
January vote in which the Senate doomed legislation designed to ban
abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with only three Democrats voting
for it. Two Republicans voted no.
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson also attended
Tuesday.
