Doug Sager, the former senior pastor for
more than 20 years at First Baptist Concord in Farragut, has passed
away.
Vonore Baptist Church, where Sager has served as pastor since 2013, has
been posting updates on Facebook since Feb. 22 when they shared that
Sager had suffered a stroke. He passed away just days later on Saturday.
"It seems that God has been calling His most faithful home. We are
grieving the loss of our Daddy, Papa, and everyone’s 'Brother Doug,' but
we are also rejoicing that he is now in the arms of our Lord Jesus
Christ. He is most certainly being welcomed home with a 'Well done, my
good and faithful servant,' " read a statement from Sager's family.
Dr. Randy C. Davis, executive director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission
Board since 2010, wrote on Twitter that Sager formerly served as
president of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and chair of the TBMB's
internation mission board. Davis went on to say that Sager was a "friend
to so many" and asked everyone to "please pray for Faye (Sager's wife)
and the family." |
