On Sunday
night, the Minnesota Vikings pulled off an unexpected touchdown in the
final seconds of the game that allowed them to reclaim the lead and seal
their victory over the New Orleans Saints. CBS Sports called the pass an
“impossible walk-off TD pass.” It’s a pass that will send the Vikings to
the NFC championship game and that made one NFL quarterback’s day.
After the climactic win, reporters pulled Vikings quarterback Case
Keenum aside to ask about his winning touchdown pass. In an attempt to
describe his excitement about the win, Case explained, “It’s probably
going to go down as the third best moment of my life behind giving my
life to Jesus Christ and marrying my wife.”
According to an article at Vikings.com, Case first asked out his then
future wife, Kimberly, at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes event
during her senior year of high school. They went out for snow cones and
found love “over faith, frozen sugar, and frugality.” When interviewed
for the article, Kimberly Keenum explained that their shared faith has
“helped her and Case view the twists and turns of the football journey …
as a fun ride along.”
“Everything we’ve been through,” Kimberly said, “God has always been
there in our lives.” And that includes all the losses and the victories.
The Keenums likely see Sunday’s victory as an extra exciting twist in
their football journey—a victory that will go down in Case’s book as the
third best moment of his life.
