KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville
Police Department has charged a man with stabbing a man found dead
Friday at a home on Sevier Avenue.
KPD said first responders arrived at a home in the 2300 block of Sevier
Avenue at 3:48 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of a deceased person,
later identified as 50-year-old William Innes. One of his roommate said
he found Innes unresponsive on the living room floor
Evidence gathered at the scene and through an investigation led KPD to
Innes' other roommate, 44-year-old Steven Simpson. Witnesses told KPD
Simpson had a drug habit, and arrest records allege Simpson stabbed
Innes several times before taking his wallet and cash. Investigators say
Simpson threw out his bloody clothing and knife as well. KPD arrested
him later in the parking lot of a west Knoxville business.
Simpson has been charged with first degree murder and especially
aggravated robbery. He is being held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention
Facility of a $150,000 bond. |
