A Laurel County couple is in jail, accused
of getting a 14-year-old girl intoxicated and sexually assaulting her.
According to an arrest citation, Dustin and Chelsea Jackson gave the
teen alcohol and marijuana at their home on January 17. The documents
said both Chelsea and Dustin Jackson admitted to drinking and smoking
marijuana along with her. Once the girl was under the influence, that's
when deputies say the sexual assault took place.
According to the sheriff's office, this all happened while the couple's
children, ages six, four and three were at home. Deputies said they
found the teen by pinging her cell phone, which led them to the Jackson
home.
"We were investigating a juvenile runaway case and we developed
information on the whereabouts of where this juvenile might be located,"
said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo with the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies told WKYT the teen met the couple through social media.
"This should be a wake up call for all parent to monitor their
children's activity on social media and know exactly what's going on
with your child because anything can happen and this is definitely a
very bad situation that happened and I would like to think that if we
monitor our children a little bit closer, that we can prevent a lot of
this."
Chelsea Jackson is charged with sodomy, custodial interference, and
criminal abuse. Dustin Jackson is charged with rape, custodial
interference, and criminal abuse.
