Sevierville Elementary School To Receive $100K As Part Of National Foundation For Governor's Fitness Council Program

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Catlettsburg Elementary School in Sevierville has been chosen to receive a new fitness center worth $100,000 as part of the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Council's DON'T QUIT! program.

The schools chosen to receive the fitness centers were announced by Governor Bill Haslam and Jake Steinfeld, Chairman of the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils, on Monday. Bledsoe County Middle School in Pikeville and Cherokee Elementary School in Memphis were also chosen to receive the fitness centers.

The program has been planned to enter all 50 states within coming years. Each fitness center is financed through public and private partnerships with companies like Coca-Cola, Amerigroup Foundation, Wheels Up and Nike. None of the fitness centers will rely on taxpayer dollars or state funding.

The state-of-the-art new centers will be unveiled at the respective schools during ribbon cutting ceremonies this fall.
